NEW YEAR'S HONOURS - CONTIKI FOUNDER JOHN ANDERSON

Almost 50 years ago, with £25 in his back pocket, John Anderson packed a mini bus with keen tourists and hit the road to explore Europe.

That spur-of-the-moment trip has since turned into the Contiki Travel empire and John Anderson has been made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to tourism.in the 2012 New Year Honours list.
