Howard H Frederick, Professor

Professor Howard Frederick is Professor of Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Unitec New Zealand


Academic qualifications: PhD, The American University, 1983; MA, San Francisco State University, 1979; BA, Stanford University, 1973. Certificates: Society for Intercultural Education and Training (1983); New Zealand Institute of Directors (2003).

A Stanford grad and Silicon Valley veteran with broad European, Latin American, and Australasian experience, Prof. Frederick is recognized as an authority in the field of ICT, business innovation, and economic growth. He is the author of New Zealand's first Knowledge Economy report (1999) “Knowledge Economy”, the yearly Global Entrepreneurship Monitor New Zealand reports as well as of numerous articles and books. He is New Zealand’s only Professor of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, located at Unitec New Zealand ( in Auckland, where he teaches Global Market Entry, e-Business, New Business Environment, and Political Communication.

Prof. Frederick’s commercial activities focus on Ten3 New Zealand Limited With partners in China, Korea, Japan, Germany, Russia, India, Philippines, Vietnam and Latin America, Ten3 NZ offers the world's first internet-based business coach, a virtual incubator aimed at assisting start-up ventures world-wide, and a global matchmaker and online initiation / execution service for distance partners. He is also a Director on four other companies.
